Question
How can I check the connection between a cross-section and a river?
Answer
In MIKE+ Rivers Release 2025 Update 1, a new layer showing on the map the connection line between a cross section and its actual chainage along the river line has been added. It is now displayed as grey lines on the Map view and titled as "Chainage connection" under River > Cross sections at the ‘Layers and symbols’ TOC tab - see Fig. 1.
This will help catching data errors, when cross sections are wrongly defined at coordinates far off from the specified chainage, especially when creating 2D Maps from 1D results or when coupling the river model with other models, such as MIKE+ 2D overland or MIKE SHE.
The "Chainage connection" lines functionality can be referred to by river modelers when there is a need to Q/A their model setup to possibly find errors related to the creation of 2D maps from 1D results and/or coupling with other MIKE/MIKE+ models.
