Description
When running a longer simulation, typically in the 2D or 3D context, (on the order of many hours, or even several days), the risk of temporary loss of Internet connection is a possibility and has to be accounted for if a DHI Internet license is used. In other words, this article is not relevant when using a DHI license based on a USB hardware key.
A simulation based on a DHI Internet License solution will continue to run over a buffer time if the Internet connection goes down. This buffer typically spans between a few seconds up to about two minutes. As the license check is cyclic, it cannot be specified precisely and the actual buffer time in any given situation depends on when the connection was lost in relation to when the license manager performed its last check.
If the connection goes down for a period exceeding the buffer time span, the simulation will pause and this information dialog appears - See Fig. 1.

Once paused (and the Yes button is clicked), the simulation will restart within a few seconds as soon as the connection is restored.
Note
Any power saving settings on the computer may affect a simulation running over a longer period of time, such as overnight or more. We strongly recommend deactivating any power settings in case a simulation is expected to run over many hours – or even days. The error message shown in Fig. 2 is typically a sign of a power save of some kind has kicked in at some point in time after the computer was left unattended.
